Complimentary Arrival Kit / 免费入境指南

Set up Nihao China before you fly. One app covers payment, metro and bus — no Chinese bank account needed. The kit also lists the English apps we recommend for maps, trains and taxis.

📱 Install before boarding — use it the moment you land

A 2-page bilingual (English/中文) guide: how to register with an overseas phone, email or Apple ID, top up with a foreign card, and pay or ride the metro right at Tianfu Airport. Also includes our recommended app list for maps, domestic flights, high-speed rail and ride-hailing.

China Arrival FAQ

The stuff first-time visitors worry about most. Ask me anything else on WhatsApp.

📱 Do I need a VPN?

WhatsApp, Google, Instagram are not accessible on mainland China networks. Install a VPN before you arrive. Alternatively, keep your home eSIM active for roaming data — WhatsApp will work over roaming without a VPN. I can explain both options on WA.

💳 How do foreigners pay in Chengdu?

Alipay TourCard or WeChat Pay International allow foreign cards (Visa/Mastercard) — but setup can be tricky. Our complimentary arrival kit walks you through Nihao China before you fly, so payment and the metro both work the moment you land. Cash is accepted at most places but not all — bring some RMB just in case.

📶 SIM card or eSIM?

Local SIM (China Mobile/Unicom) needs real-name registration with passport. eSIM from Airalo/Holafly works but slower and pricier. I recommend buying a local SIM at the airport — I can tell you exactly which counter and what to say.

🗺️ Which map app works?

Google Maps is unreliable in China. Use AMap (Gaode Map) or Baidu Maps — both have English interfaces now. Didi (Chinese Uber) for taxis. See Our complimentary arrival kit for details.

🛂 Visa-free entry?

Many nationalities get 30-day visa-free or 240-hour transit. Rules change — check official sources or ask your airline. I'm happy to share what recent guests have experienced, but always confirm with your embassy.

🚄 How to book trains?

12306 app is the official one but clunky in English. Trip.com works well for foreigners. See Our complimentary arrival kit for details. I can help you book or at least tell you which train to take.

🐼 Panda Base tickets?

Book online in advance (sells out on weekends/holidays). I can guide you through the official booking process through WeChat mini-program. Go early morning (7:30am) for best views.

🏨 Can I really stay at your hotel as a foreigner?

Yes — we are a legally registered hotel (成都市橙子名屋酒店管理有限公司) licensed to host foreign guests. Police registration done properly on check-in. English check-in, no problem.

Why Orange Mingwu?

Your English-Speaking Chengdu Host

I lived in Canada for 10+ years before returning to Chengdu. I understand exactly what foreign travelers worry about.

Our hotel is small but properly licensed to host international guests, and we are a real local base where you can land, ask questions, and get oriented without the language barrier. If you are wondering where to stay in Chengdu as a foreign tourist, we are a safe and English-speaking choice near the metro.

Whether you're a backpacker, a vlogger, a family, or someone who just landed and feels overwhelmed — message me. I'll help you figure out the next step.
